Teen Center

The Teen Center at the Central Library will be a self-contained space, designed and programmed by teens for teens.

Working in collaboration with planners, architects and Library staff, teens will create a dedicated space with a welcoming environment where creativity and friendships can flourish, and teens can learn to use cutting-edge technology.

Looking for a poetry slam? Want to learn more about virtual reality or how to create a new app? How about Star Wars Night? The Teen Center will be a fun, open space where teens can study, collaborate, or even daydream.

The new Teen Center will be also be programmed by teens who will be able to start and run their own affinity groups, create 3-D graphics, record new music, put on events, and more. This will be a nurturing environment staffed by library professionals who specialize in youth and young adult learning. The Teen Center brings local youth together and opens doors to a brighter future for all Santa Barbara teens.
