What We Fund

The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation funds large-scale projects at the Central Library, including the Library Plaza Project, SB Reads, Teen Center, and a refurbished Second Floor Patio.

The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation provides critical capital resources for our library. Join us in opening doors to literacy, technology, and lifelong learning at the cultural hub of Santa Barbara.

The Foundation’s funded projects include:

Library Plaza Campaign

The historic Library plaza at Santa Barbara’s Central Library is a community treasure and major pedestrian thoroughfare in dire need of restoration.

SB Reads

The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation funds the Santa Barbara Public Library's annual SB Reads program that creates community by inspiring conversation and discovery around the celebration of a single book, with programming and activities for all ages.

Library on the Go

The Foundation helped support the funding to create the Library on the Go Van and collects additional support to ensure the Van's sustainability.

Anapamu & Faulkner Doors

The Foundation is raising funds to restore the Anapamu Street tympanum and the Art Deco mural over the exterior Faulkner Gallery doors.

Children's Library Endowment

The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation funds the Children’s Library Endowment, which allows the library to run over 200 outreach programs each month.

Teen Center

The Teen Center at the Central Library will be a self-contained space, designed and programmed by teens for teens.

Outdoor Patio

Currently inaccessible, the Second Floor Patio is a hidden gem. Once restored, a rooftop garden will be available for library patrons and for special events.

Alan Brumberger is a graduate of Yale University, the University of Michigan Law School and Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Mr. Brumberger was the Chief Executive Officer and General Securities Principal for Emerald Point Capital, LLC., a FINRA Registered Broker Dealer in New York. He has held numerous leadership positions and Board memberships in various philanthropic organizations and investment banking firms including President and CEO of Shearson American Express International Limited, the firm's international investment banking arm in London. He is excited to do his part to help the Santa Barbara Public Library continue and build upon its remarkable record of being a fundamental community resource in broadening our citizens’ literacy.
