17 Dec Santa Barbara Public Library Featured in Montecito Bank & Trust’s 2025 Community Impact Report
The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation is honored to be featured in Montecito Bank & Trust’s 2025 Community Impact Report, which highlights organizations and projects that strengthen the Central Coast through arts, education, health, and social services. This year’s report celebrates “50 Years of Loving & Living Local,” and we are proud to be included among the many nonprofits working to build a more connected, equitable, and vibrant region.
Montecito Bank & Trust’s corporate philanthropy centers on four pillars of giving—Arts & Culture, Health & Medical, Social Services, and Youth & Education—with a special emphasis on programs that serve underserved communities. Their support helps ensure that individuals and families across Santa Barbara County have access to the cultural, educational, and social resources they need to thrive.
Celebrating the Michael Towbes Library Plaza
A highlight of the feature is the recognition of the Michael Towbes Library Plaza, a vital public gathering space located in front of the Central Library. Designed to honor the legacy of philanthropist Michael Towbes, the plaza reflects his belief in accessible community spaces and the transformative power of public libraries.
The Community Impact Report showcases photos from the 2024 Santa Barbara Beautiful Awards, where the Library Plaza was honored for its community value and thoughtful design. This recognition underscores how public spaces—especially those tied to libraries—serve as essential hubs for learning, collaboration, and connection.
Building Stronger Communities Through Partnership
The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation relies on the commitment and generosity of local partners like Montecito Bank & Trust. Their support not only strengthens library programs and infrastructure but also expands opportunities for youth and families who depend on these resources every day.
From early literacy and after-school enrichment to access to technology, arts programming, and cultural preservation, philanthropic investments allow the Library to meet the evolving needs of our community with excellence and care.
Looking Ahead
We extend our deepest gratitude to Montecito Bank & Trust for uplifting the Library Foundation in this year’s report and for championing organizations that make Santa Barbara stronger. As we look toward 2025 and beyond, we remain committed to expanding access, deepening impact, and ensuring that the Library continues to serve as a welcoming and empowering resource for all.
Together—with our partners, supporters, and community—we can continue to build a Santa Barbara where knowledge, curiosity, and opportunity are accessible to everyone.
