14 Jul Celebrating The Launch of Library On The Go 2.0
We were pleased to announce the launch of Library on the Go 2.0 as an effort to encourage literacy alongside improving community engagement with library services. Library on the Go is a program that provides library services at recurring stops within the community including community events. In 2025, Library on the Go made 373 stops throughout the community providing over 709 hours of public service.
The launch of Library on the Go 2.0 was made possible by a generous donation from the James M. Cox Foundation and a grant from the California State Library. Library on the Go 2.0 serves as an improvement to the original program by introducing a new van, doubling the reach and contributions of the program. The launch event occurred this past March, acting as a celebration of this momentous milestone and provided guided tours for the community of the new van. Additionally, the tours introduced the general public to meet the dedicated library staff behind our mobile services.
The expansion of the Library on the Go program will help us encourage our community to connect with each other and will hopefully serve as a pillar for Santa Barbara. We hope that our efforts continue to benefit the people of Santa Barbara by encouraging others to connect through literacy by expanding access to our services. Thank you to all everyone who came to support the launch of the program and we look forward to serving the community.
