17 Dec Library Happenings!
The Santa Barbara Public Library continues to be a vibrant hub for connection, creativity, and lifelong learning this winter, with programs that invite our community to explore new ideas, share stories, and come together across generations. From engaging author conversations and language practice to hands-on youth programming, the Library offers something for everyone. Better yet, all of these services and events are free and open to the public!
Upcoming events include Trail Talks: Open Mic Night, an evening of storytelling and natural history, and the monthly Fiction Book Club, featuring What it Means When a Man Falls from the Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah. Patrons can also build language skills through Intermediate Spanish Conversation sessions and take part in the Library’s Open Mic Night & Art Gallery, which invites local performers and visual artists to share their work.
Families and young readers are especially well served this season, with programs like Cozy Reading & Cocoa for teens, Stay & Play and Bilingual Songs & Stories for early learners, and Story Creators, which encourages older children to develop their writing and illustration skills. Beyond the Library walls, Library on the Go continues to bring books and resources directly to senior communities throughout Santa Barbara.
In addition to in-person programming, the Library offers robust digital resources, including Hoopla’s Winter WonderBinge for cozy streaming and Brainfuse HelpNow, providing free, 24/7 live tutoring for students of all ages. The Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation is proud to support these programs and grateful to the donors whose generosity helps ensure the Library remains a welcoming, enriching resource for our entire community.
