14 Oct Shop with Envirotokens 2025-2026!
For the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation, every cent counts toward the long-term sustainability of the Library. That’s why programs like Lazy Acres’ Envirotokens are so important—they provide a steady stream of donations from Santa Barbara community members who don’t even have to open their checkbooks!
Lazy Acres incentivizes sustainability through this program. When you shop at Lazy Acres and bring your own reusable bags, you receive a 10¢ Envirotoken per bag. You can then “pay it forward” to one of six local nonprofits focused on K–12 education, hunger relief, and environmental stewardship. Each month, Lazy Acres tallies the Envirotokens donated, converts them into dollar amounts, and sends a check to each organization.
The Foundation was incredibly fortunate to be selected last year, and we are thrilled to share that we have been chosen as a recipient again this year! Thanks to your participation, we collected $2,000 in gift cards last year—directly supporting the Library’s teen programs and Spanish outreach initiatives.
This year, we plan to allocate the funds to support SB Reads, one of the Library’s largest community events, which invites Santa Barbara residents to read the same book at the same time. SB Reads not only promotes literacy, but also creates space for meaningful conversation and community connection.
Thank you to everyone who voted and continues to support the Library through this sustainable, community-powered program. Together, we’re helping the Library thrive for years to come!
