17 Dec Celebrating Sun Day: Powering a Brighter Future
Last month, the Santa Barbara Public Library joined community partners to celebrate the importance of clean energy at Sun Day, a national event focused on empowering individuals to electrify their homes and businesses. Sun Day is a nationwide initiative to increase awareness of sustainable energy and draw attention to fossil fuel greed. Events like these help connect community members with tools and information to take meaningful steps toward cleaner, renewable energy.
In collaboration with the Community Environmental Council, Sierra Club, Society of Fearless Grandmothers, the City of Santa Barbara Sustainability & Resilience Department, and Santa Barbara Clean Energy, the Library proudly supported this day of action toward sustainable solutions. There were booths tabling on renewable energy, over 100 attendees, and engaging speakers highlighting important areas of improvement for our community.
Through its partnership with the City’s Sustainability & Resilience Department, the Santa Barbara Public Library continues to make sustainability accessible to all through its Library of Things. Patrons can explore a variety of resources to help them live more sustainably, including:
- BCycle Passes – Available to check out from the Central Library, Eastside Library, or Library on the Go van.
- Induction Cooktop Kits – Reserve one here.
- Home Energy Savings Kits – Borrow one here.
The Library is proud to be part of a community working together toward a cleaner, more resilient future.
